Hosting, is it important?
July 22nd, 2007
Someone asked me today if Hosting is an important part of website development.
Now let me preface this with, YES, I DO OWN A HOSTING COMPANY.
But, my answer would have been the same ten years ago when I didn’t.
Yes, hosting is important. In fact, it’s likely the most important aspect of all in not just SEO or development or design, but all of the above.
Because if your hosting is down, nothing else matters. If your hosting does not have certain aspects, you will fail.
why? Because people can’t or won’t get to your site.
So study, study, and study some more before you choose your home on the web. Check out reliability, uptime, what features you’ll get, etc.
It never ceases to amaze me. People will spend 5 thousand dollars to build their beautiful new site without a bat of an eye.
But they choose the 3 dollar a month hosting for it’s home.
It’s like buying a Ferrari, and then choosing to park it every nite in the worst neighborhood in town. With the keys in the ignition.
Not sure about your hosting? Post a question here or in my forum. I’ll be happy to help.
