I’m going to lean the other way and say no. Old school design is going to take your website much further than the newest platform will.

That and some really great linking strategies. Remember, the old link swap is a goner. Toss those emails away and work on your website’s code, it’s INBOUND links and their relativity, etc.

Heck, if you’re planning on doing this for a hobby or a living you need to know how to write enough basic html to build a website, so why not open up little old notepad and start your new design with that cool white, very blank page….
